In a pan over medium-high heat on the stove, sauté mushrooms and garlic in olive oil until golden. Meanwhile, cut baguette in half lengthwise, cut to desired length, and drizzle over some olive oil onto the cut surfaces. Place them on a foil-lined baking dish.
When mushrooms and garlic are ready, load them onto the baguette, followed by tomato slices, mozzarella cheese, and top with Italian herbs and black pepper. Broil in oven for about 1 minute or until cheese is melted. When ready, sprinkle over basil and serve.
