Waffle Batter
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup flour
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ cup chocolate chips
Other
- ½ cup strawberries sliced
- ½ cup blackberries
- Whipped cream optional
- Nutella optional
Combine all batter ingredients except chocolate chips in a large bowl. Use an immersion blender or hand mixer to mix the batter until smooth and sticky. Fold in the chocolate chips.
Prepare your waffle maker by preheating it and spray or greasing it. Cook, batch by batch in the waffle maker, flipping once for each waffle. Set aside.
Meanwhile place blackberries in a small pot on low-medium heat on the stove with about 1 tbsp water and a pinch of sugar. Gently heat, stirring occasionally, until the blackberries have partly broken down and the liquid is sticky.
Serve waffles with freshly sliced strawberries, the blackberry compote, and optionally top with whipped cream and drizzle with nutella.
