Spiced Iced Chocolate Holiday Cookies
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1/3 cup white sugar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 4 Tbsp unsalted butter slightly melted
- 2 eggs beaten
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp allspice
- 1 tsp nutmeg
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, salt, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, and nutmeg. In another bowl, mix together the eggs, vanilla extract, and butter. Slowly mix in the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients. Knead until entirely combined.
- Refrigerate dough for at least 3 hours. Once cooled, preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Add powdered sugar to a bowl. Roll dough into equally sized balls (about 1-2 tbsp per ball) and dip each into powdered sugar to coat and place them on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet (do not smoosh them down, keep them in balls). Leave about 2 inches between for expansion.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes depending on how soft or crunchy you prefer your cookies. Once cooked, place them on a wire cooling rack to dry.
